Packers sign G Kevin Zeitler, place WR Jayden Reed on injured reserve, September 30

The Green Bay Packers signed 15-year veteran guard Kevin Zeitler and moved wide receiver Jayden Reed to injured reserve on September 30. The team also added defensive tackle David Blay Jr. and wide receiver Coleman Owen to the practice squad.

The Green Bay Packers signed veteran guard Kevin Zeitler and placed wide receiver Jayden Reed on injured reserve on September 30, per the official team announcement. General Manager Brian Gutekunst also signed defensive tackle David Blay Jr. and wide receiver Coleman Owen to the practice squad.

Zeitler brings extensive experience to the Packers' offensive line. The 6-4, 314-pound guard is in his 15th NFL season after being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 27th overall pick in the 2012 draft. He has played for six franchises: the Bengals (2012-16), Cleveland Browns (2017-18), New York Giants (2019-20), Baltimore Ravens (2021-23), Detroit Lions (2024), and Tennessee Titans (2025).

According to the Packers' announcement, Zeitler has appeared in 214 regular-season games with 213 starts, and started all seven postseason contests in which he appeared. Since 2012, Zeitler has registered the most games played and the most starts by an offensive lineman in the league, the team stated. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2023. Zeitler, a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, will wear No. 70.

David Blay Jr., a 6-2, 292-pound rookie out of the University of Miami, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots but was released in training camp. He spent the remainder of camp with the Philadelphia Eagles. Blay played 46 games in college for West Chester (2021-22), Louisiana Tech (2023-24), and Miami (2025), earning first-team All-Conference USA honors in 2024. He will wear No. 61.

Coleman Owen, a 5-10, 181-pound first-year player from Ohio University, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Indianapolis Colts on May 9, 2025. Owen spent his rookie season on the Indianapolis practice squad and appeared in two games, registering five kick returns for 141 yards (28.2 average) and one punt return for 2 yards. He played 53 career games at Northern Arizona (2019-23) and Ohio (2024), earning first-team All-MAC honors in 2024, second-team All-Big Sky recognition in 2022-23, and All-Big Sky honorable mention in 2021. He will wear No. 13.

The key fact

Kevin Zeitler, a Wisconsin native and Pro Bowl selection in 2023, has played 214 regular-season games with 213 starts since entering the NFL in 2012, more than any other offensive lineman during that span.

The Bottom Line

Reed's placement on injured reserve signals an immediate concern about the receiver's availability as the season progresses; Zeitler's signing addresses the offensive line with a player whose 213 career starts rank first among all linemen since 2012.
