Scottie Scheffler Breaks Tiger's PGA Tour Earnings Record, Wins Second FedEx Cup

Scottie Scheffler won the 2026 Tour Championship on Sunday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta with a 16-under total, surpassing Tiger Woods' all-time PGA Tour career earnings record and claiming his second FedEx Cup title in the process.

Scheffler's victory brought his career PGA Tour earnings to $130,390,661, per Front Office Sports reporting, exceeding Tiger Woods' previous record of $120.9 million, which Woods had held for 25 years. The Tour Championship victory earned Scheffler a $10 million winner's purse. Scheffler also earned a $23 million FedExCup bonus for finishing in first place following the BMW Championship, though the PGA Tour does not count bonus money toward career earnings.

Scheffler entered the final round three strokes back after finishing at 12-under, with Viktor Hovland holding a one-shot lead over Ryan Gerard at 15-under. On Sunday at East Lake, per BBC Sport reporting, Scheffler shot a four-under 66, the only round to break par among the final three pairings. He hit six birdies on the final day to surge into the lead and finish three strokes ahead of Hovland, who signed for a two-over 72. Ryan Gerard finished in third place overall on 12-under par after shooting 72. Viktor Hovland earned $5 million for second place.

The victory marked Scheffler's 22nd career win and third PGA Tour victory in 2026. Despite finishing in the top five 13 times this season, Scheffler went over half a year without a win after claiming The American Express trophy in January until the FedEx St. Jude Championship victory in Memphis two weeks ago, when he passed Rory McIlroy to move into second place on the career earnings list. At the BMW Championship in St. Louis before the Tour Championship, Scheffler shot 7-under and tied for 12th place.

Scheffler has won more than $30 million on the PGA Tour in 2026 prize money alone and has led the tour in prize money for five consecutive seasons. Per BBC Sport, Scheffler joins Woods (2007 and 2009) and Rory McIlroy (2016, 2019 and 2022) as the only players to have won the FedEx Cup on multiple occasions. The world No. 1 said after his victory: "To come from behind and be able to win tournament is a really cool feeling. There were a lot of talented guys in front of me on the leaderboard. I was fortunate to get off to a good start and put myself in the mix. It's a gift to be out here on tour. Each and every day I'm going to try to give it my best."
