Itauma Seeks IBF Heavyweight Crown Against Hrgović at O2 Arena

Moses Itauma, a 21-year-old southpaw from Chatham with an unbeaten professional record, faces Filip Hrgović for the vacant International Boxing Federation heavyweight championship at the O2 Arena in London on August 29. According to Sporting News and Guardian Sport, Itauma's record stands at 14-0 with 12 knockouts, while Hrgović carries a 20-1 record with 15 knockouts.

Itauma would become the second-youngest heavyweight champion of all time behind Mike Tyson if he defeats Hrgović, who is 34 years old. At 21 years and 244 days, per Sporting News, Itauma would also rank as the second-youngest British world champion in history, behind Naseem Hamed.

The challenger from the United Kingdom is characterized by speed uncommon for his size, concussive power, and the ability to attack from unusual angles, according to Guardian Sport. His experience at the elite level remains limited, however, having competed in only 31 professional rounds. Hrgović, a Croatian heavyweight, has frequently dismissed Itauma as a "kid" during the build-up to the bout. At Friday's weigh-in at Spitalfields Market, per Sporting News, Itauma shoved Hrgović off the stage and received a slap in response.

On the undercard, Sam Noakes, 29, from Kent, defeated former world champion Denys Berinchyk by unanimous decision over 10 rounds in a lightweight bout, winning by scores of 100-90, 99-91, and 98-92, according to Sporting News. Noakes described the victory as the biggest win of his career.

Nelson Hysa knocked out Thomas Narmo in round two of a heavyweight bout and called out WBC champion Agit Kabayal ringside after his victory. Constantin Ursu retained the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles against Ben Vaughan. Guido Vianello and Moses Jolly fought to a draw over eight heavyweight rounds. Tony Curtis defeated previously undefeated Imad Naseeb in a six-round super flyweight bout, and Aloys Youmbi faced late replacement Sherif Musah in a cruiserweight contest after Mike Perez withdrew.
