F1 announces 2027 calendar: 24 races, 10 sprints, Portugal and Turkey return

Formula 1 released its 2027 season schedule on September 16, cementing sprint racing as a core format while restoring Portugal and Turkey to a calendar that will expand to 10 sprint events, double the current six.

Portugal returns with its meeting in Portimão on June 20, its first appearance since 2021 when it served as a Covid-era replacement. Barcelona does not appear on the 2027 calendar; it will now rotate hosting with the Belgian GP at Spa on alternate years. The Dutch GP at Zandvoort held its final race in 2026. All four Middle East races are scheduled in their normal slots, though F1 has contingency plans if geopolitical disruptions require cancellations, with Imola expected to host the season finale in December if needed. The calendar includes three triple-headers: Australia, Japan and China in April; Azerbaijan, Turkey and Singapore in September-October; and the United States, Mexico and Brazil in October-November.

Las Vegas will not run back-to-back with Qatar and Abu Dhabi for the first time since the race joined the schedule, with a one-week gap after Nevada. The Silverstone round takes place July 2-4. Pre-season testing is scheduled for February 24-27 in Sakhir, Bahrain.
