Colts WR Keenan Allen formally charged with two misdemeanors

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was formally charged with two misdemeanor counts on Tuesday related to his August 30 arrest in Indianapolis. Allen was charged with operating a vehicle with alcohol concentration equivalent to 0.15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, per ESPN's reporting.

Allen, 34 years old, posted $500 cash bond on Tuesday. His attorneys waived an initial hearing scheduled for Wednesday. An attorney conference is set for October 26.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers conducted a traffic investigation on August 30 shortly after 1 a.m. after observing a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone. Officers noticed signs of intoxication when they spoke with Allen and arrested him after further investigation.

Allen joined the Colts on August 19 on a one-year deal, marking his first season with Indianapolis after 12 of his previous 13 years with the San Diego-Los Angeles Chargers. He is in his 14th NFL season. In the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, 41-23, Allen had six receptions for 32 yards. Allen has been selected to six Pro Bowls in his career and finished his Chargers tenure with 985 catches, 11,307 yards, and 63 touchdowns after posting 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games last season.

Colts coach Shane Steichen declined to address the latest development before Wednesday's practice, per Yahoo Sports. Allen was expected to be a participant in the practice. Allen has not addressed the incident publicly.
