With a first-innings lead of 146 runs, Australia put Bangladesh in again. Bangladesh fell to 24-3 inside eight overs, losing both openers early. The second innings ended at 95 all out in 38.3 overs. Starc took 4-39, Pat Cummins took 3-10, and Nathan Lyon took 3-25. Bangladesh reached 95-8 by tea before Lyon took the final two wickets.

Starc's match figures of 10-51 earned him Player of the Match and Player of the Series. Across the two-match series, according to BBC Sport, Starc took 12 wickets at an average of 12.08. Pat Cummins said after the Mackay victory: "A lot of things went right these couple days and a lot of things went wrong last week. We needed to bounce back, and it was a great couple of days from the lads. I thought everyone was sharp. It was a great start and we didn't really let up after that," according to BBC Sport. Starc added: "Much better week. We knew we weren't at our best, or what we expect of ourselves, in Darwin.
